Essex Travel Information also provides online information on public transport together with traffic news and details of road works. Information for all your transport needs can be accessed on the Essex County Council website.
The Travel Training Scheme run by Essex County Council is designed to compliment and enhance existing travel provision and to encourage and promote independence. It helps young people with special needs and adults with learning difficulties to develop skills to use public transport services. All the information includes details about access for people who are disabled. It is produced in an easy read format using pictures, symbols and text which makes this an ideal resource for people with learning disabilities.
If you are over 60 or an eligible disabled person you may be entitled to free off-peak local bus travel anywhere in England. Directgov provides full details of the scheme and tells you how to claim your bus pass.
If you are 60 or over you can buy a Senior Railcard which will give you savings on standard and first class train fares.
