Community Transport

The Travel Training Scheme run by Essex County Council is designed to compliment and enhance existing travel provision and to encourage and promote independence. It helps young people with special needs and adults with learning difficulties to develop skills to use public transport services. Passenger Transport Co-ordination Centre
The Passenger Transport Co-ordination Centre (PTCC) is responsible for procuring and monitoring the passenger transport needs of the County Council. It purchases over £40m worth of services on behalf of the Authority with the objective of integrating transport services, offering best value and ensuring quality of service to our customers.  If you wish to make a private arrangement with one of these suppliers please access the list by the following the link above.

Free bus pass
If you are over 60 or an eligible disabled person you may be entitled to free off-peak local bus travel anywhere in England.

Senior Railcard
If you are 60 or over you can buy a Senior Railcard which will give you savings on standard and first class train fares.

Disabled Persons Railcard
You may be able to apply for a disabled persons railcard if you have a disability that makes travelling by train difficult.

Renewing your driving licence at 70 plus
When you reach the age of 70 your driving licence entitlement will expire. If you want to continue to drive, the entitlement will need to be renewed by the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA).Directgov  provide details of how to apply for a renewal.
