Alzheimers Society   
This is a member organisation providing practical services and support for people with dementia and their carers. Through campaigning and lobbying they strive to influence government policies and raise awareness of the challenges faced by people with dementia and the people who care for them, and through their research programme they work to improve the knowledge they have about dementia.

PAVIS  
This is a voluntary organisation which provides activities and information for the partially sighted, blind and anyone having problems with their eyes. They also aim to promote the quality of life and independence of visually impaired people through co operation, education and by raising the profile in the wider community, and to help people gain in confidence whilst also combat feelings of isolation, frustration and grieving.

Essex Blind Charity  
They deliver a range of excellent support services to visually impaired people in Essex. They provide support, care, advice and social opportunity to blind and partially sighted adults, and support their families and carers.

Rethink  
This is one of the leading national mental health membership charities working to help everyone affected by severe mental illness recover a better quality of life, and also support those families and carers living with people who have severe mental illness. The aim is to make a practical and positive difference by providing hope and empowerment through effective services, information and support to all those who need them.

Disability Essex  
They enable people with any disability to control their own lives and enjoy to the full the opportunities which society, the economy and the environment offer. Their new online database of disability information can help you with answers to many of your questions, and information on the Access Auditor training course which provides disabled people with new skills and qualifications to assist them into permanent employment.

Centre for Disability Studies  
They are dedicated to keeping you up to date on the latest developments of Disability Essex's pioneering eco-building, which will form the charity's operational headquarters and professionally accredited training centre. Disability Essex is a registered charity with a simple cause and positive, visible results providing a range of services to 'enable people with disabilities in Essex to enjoy more fulfilling and independent lives.'

Disability Alliance  
This is a national registered charity with the principal aim of relieving the poverty and improving the living standards of disabled people. They provide information to disabled people, their families, carers and professional advisers; undertake research into the needs of disabled people. They are best known as the authors of the Disability Rights Handbook that is available online, which provides clear and concise information on the issues relevant to disabled people and their families.

Contact a Family
This charity provides support, advice and information for families with disabled children, no matter what their condition or disability. Contact a Family's mission and purpose is to remove the barriers imposed by society which prevent families with disabled children achieving their full potential, and to empower these families to live the lives they want to lead.

Web Enable  
They provide websites and multimedia training to enhance communication for people with a learning disability. Web enable works with many charities and more than 23 Partnership Boards across the country to provide websites, web-based networks, training in person, centred planning using multimedia and the web, and accessible documents.
